Pioli: I reward players’ hard work

Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli has reiterated the value he places on being flexible in terms of team selection and tactics.

The Nerazzurri claimed their third victory in five games as they beat Genoa 2-0 to move up to eighth position in the Serie A.

The victory saw Pioli make another change to his tactics while also giving a few fringe players an opportunity in the starting line-up.

"We don't have a preferred playing system. Eventually that'll be a problem for our adversaries. Today we suffered, but were rewarded fairly," he told Inter Channel.

"We try to do our best. I chose three attackers because I wanted to put their defenders under pressure but we have to work that better. Finally, we were able to find the openings, we must keep this attitude.

"Nagatomo and Palacio? I do it all the time, I try to reward the daily work and they have shown me being on the pitch, that they can help make the team effective. I am open to all, the rest is on them."

Inter have now closed the gap on the Champions League qualifying positions to seven points.
