Inter Milan midfielder Felipe Melo is hopeful that the win over Sparta Prague will give the team momentum heading into the weekend's fixture.
The Nerazzurri came out on top in a 2-1 triumph over Group K winners Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday. It wasn't enough to keep Inter in the competition, but Melo believes it provides a much-needed confidence boost.
"We all work hard in training to try to give the boss a selection headache and we did a great job today – we deserved the win," he told the club's official website.
"It gives us an injection of confidence, which is something we're short of at the moment.
"Now we have to keep it up. Genoa will be tough on Sunday but there's only one result in our minds."
Inter are down in 10th position in the Serie A standings and have fallen 11 points behind AC Milan, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.
When asked if Inter could still qualify for the Champions League, Melo added: "We just have to take things one game at a time and try to win them all."
