Even though his side advanced to the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup, Thailand coach Kiatisuk Senamuang believes it is too early to start celebrating.
Thailand crushed co-hosts Myanmar 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-finals on Thursday and subsequently won 6-0 on aggregate.
Sarawut Masuk opened the scoring for Thailand in the 33rd minute before Theerathon Bunmanthan doubled their lead through a penalty in the 65th minute. Siroch Chatthong and Chanathip Songkrasin added goals in the 75th and 83rd minute respectively to seal Thailand’s convincing win.
“It’s not over yet, today we won but there’s still two more games to go in the final. We have to prepare for that,” Kiatisuk said. “I brought in Siroch to rest our key players and he delivered a fine goal on his birthday.”
Kiatisuk admitted that he was highly impressed with Myanmar’s AFF Suzuki Cup campaign and added that they will be a team to watch out for in the future.
“The Myanmar team today is young and they can only get better,” he said.
The War Elephants will now take on Indonesia in the final, with the first leg scheduled to be played next Wednesday and the second to be held three days later.
