Everton and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku believes Paul Pogba’s decision to rejoin Manchester United in the off-season had nothing to do with money.
Pogba, who's close friends with Lukaku, has been criticised for going back to the Red Devils for a reported £290,000 a week wage.
However, Lukaku says he was with Pogba when talks started with Jose Mourinho's side prior to the world record £89.3 million transfer.
"When everything was signed – and I've known Paul for many years – I've never seen him with that look on his face," the 23-year-old told ESPN.
"I'd never seen him so happy. This return to United, it had nothing to do with money. It was a relief, a real happiness for him.
"We only spoke once about football during our holidays this summer, when we were at a pool in LA, and he was telling me about his dream to return to United. That's when I understood what it meant."
