Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel could leave the Premier League and continue his career at Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG, according to a report in the British press.
Mikel has been extensively linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Standard reports that Shanghai SIPG, who is managed by former Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas, has now entered the fray.
The 29-year-old midfielder hasn't featured for Antonio Conte's new-look Blues this season, and while a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford seems like a move to suit all parties, the west Londoners are believed to be reluctant to sell to one of their Premier League rivals.
Villas Boas is a big fan of Mikel after their time together at Stamford Bridge and is prepared to double his current salary.
The Super Eagles star is out of contract at the end the season and can agree a pre-contract in the January transfer window.
Mikel joined Chelsea from Lyn Oslo in 2006, having appeared to sign for United in what was a complex transfer.
