Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is wary of the threat posed by FC Bayern München in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter, and says he will look to exploit their weaknesses.
Simeone’s side occupy pole position in Group D, having registered five victories in as many games, which includes a 1-0 defeat of the Bavarian giants on Matchday 2.
Despite having already qualified for the last 16 as group winners, Simeone will not take Carlo Ancelotti’s side lightly, citing their array of world-class players and ability to switch up formations as areas of strength.
“I’m looking forward to the match,” he told reporters.
“FC Bayern are great opponents, they have a highly competitive team with incredibly good team players.
“They’re able to play a number of systems, even if their systems are different from last year.
“We’ve been playing our way for years, and we know our opponents’ characteristics. We’ll try to hurt them.”
