Guardiola dismisses United title ambitions

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola feels Premier League rivals Manchester United face an uphill battle this season in their quest to claim the league title.

Following their 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park, United languish in sixth spot – 13 points behind leaders Chelsea and nine points behind City.

Guardiola feels the point gap at this stage of the season may rule The Red Devils out but admitted their quality of football displayed this season has warranted more points – and they'll definitely be in the reckoning for a Champions League spot.

"They deserved by far to win the games but football is like this. United have the quality, the history, the manager and the players to be there," he told reporters.

"Of course, 13 points is a long distance, especially when one team is winning games with the quality of Chelsea. So it is not easy. But to be in the first four? Of course."
