PSG open contract talks with Matuidi

Mino Raiola, the agent of Blaise Matuidi, has confirmed that he has opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential contract extension.

Matuidi was said to be keen on furthering his career elsewhere after France's Euro 2016 campaign, but after he was denied a move to Serie A champions Juventus, the France international was said to be unhappy with the Ligue 1 side's management.

However, after the managerial change at Parc des Princes, with Unai Emery replacing Laurent Blanc and the 29-year-old continuing his role as an integral part of Les Parisiens starting XI, a sudden change of heart has occurred.

"Things are advancing naturally," Raiola told Le Parisien. "We are in discussions with the club in a very positive manner. I think that Blaise will stay with PSG."

The box-to-box midfielder has featured 260 times for the French Champions, scoring 28 goals and registering 25 assists since joining the club from St Etienne in 2011.
