Everton have been dealt a massive blow with the news that winger Yannick Bolasie is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 27-year-old, who has been ever-present for the Toffees after sealing a transfer from Crystal Palace in the off-season, will undergo surgery this week.
It is feared that he could miss the remainder of the season as an injury of this nature generally involves a recovery period of around six to nine months.
A statement published on the club's website read: "Yannick Bolasie will undergo surgery after sustaining a serious knee ligament injury against Manchester United on Sunday.
"Scans have now confirmed anterior cruciate ligament damage to the right knee. Bolasie will undergo surgery in the next few days."
Bolasie joined the Merseyside outfit for a reported fee of £27million and has gone on to make 15 appearances in all competitions, bagging one goal and providing four assists in the process.
