Following a poor start to the season, De Graafschap have decided to relieve club legend Jan Vreman of his managerial duties at the club.
Currently in 16th place in the league standings after the embarrassing 5-3 loss to FC Oss at De Vijverberg on Friday evening, the club released an official statement.
'Mister De Graafschap', has been at Superboeren since 1985 and, according to general director Hans Veldhorst, his loyalty and knowledge will not go to waste – as they look towards finding a new role for the former defender.
"We will now look to see role Jan Vreman can fulfil at De Graafschap," he told the club's website. "We cannot afford and do not want to miss him and his enormous recognisable qualities that he has shown in the previous decades at this club."
Vremen led De Graafschap to the Eredivisie in his first full season in charge as head coach, following an 18-year-playing career, two years as a youth coach and eight years as the club's assistant coach.
