SV Werder Bremen have confirmed that midfielder Izet Hajrovic will miss the rest of the 2016/17 campaign after sustaining a serious knee injury against FC Ingolstadt 04.
Goals by Max Kruse and Fin Bartels handed Alexander Nouri’s side a well-deserved win to help them out of the relegation zone, but the result was overshadowed by the news of the Bosnian’s injury.
“Unfortunately our fears were confirmed this morning and Izet will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the season,” the club’s official website said.
“Obviously that’s terrible news, especially now as most of our long-term injured players have returned.
“Now we have to do without another player for several months. We wish Izet a speedy recovery and will support him during this time as best as we can.”
Hajrovic has made 10 appearances in the league this season and has managed to find the back of the net once.
