PSG director of football Patrick Kluivert has revealed he was in talks with former club Ajax Amsterdam about their managerial vacancy in the off-season.
Following Frank de Boer's departure to Internazionale, Kluivert claims he was earmarked as a potential replacement by the Eredivisie giants.
However, Peter Bosz pipped the Netherlands legend to the job at the Amsterdam Arena – which the former Curacao national team boss admits was disappointing.
"I also had a conversation with Ajax to become head coach. But they found it too early. That was Ajax's choice," he told NOS.
"I would have personally found it nice if the opportunity had been awarded to me," he said as he was the U19 coach at the time.
"Of course I was disappointed, you go for the highest there is to get. This was a great opportunity for me. It was not to be. It is the choice of the club and I must respect it."
