Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane was happy to take three points off Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Saturday, but admitted he was not impressed with the performance from his team.
Gijon looked to be on a hiding to nothing after a Cristiano Ronaldo Brace inside the opening 20 minutes put Los Blancos into a commanding position.
However, the visitors fought back well and stunned the home crowd by pulling a goal back through Carlos Carmona in the 35th minute and perhaps should have claimed a point from the game after Duje Cop missed a 78th-minute penalty.
"Today we can only be happy with the three points, but we can't be happy with the performance," Zidane said after the match. At times these things happen, you score two goals and are in the driving seat and then a goal changes the game.
"They went into the break looking brighter than us. There was a lot of rain out there and we showed less concentration and that's all there is to it.
"We've got reason to be happy because we're top, we keep up our good form and we have to continue on in this vein.
"It wasn't like a cup final for us but it was an important game and it was one we struggled to win.
"Sporting played well, but we didn't perform as we expected to.
"Now we must turn our attentions to the Copa Del Rey match before el Clasico and keep working."
