Brazilian club Santos have confirmed that they want to sign Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Former German international Schweinsteiger has returned to first-team training at Old Trafford after being frozen out by manager Jose Mourinho at the start of the season.
However, Schweinsteiger is widely expected to leave the club in the January transfer window, if United receive a suitable offer for the 32-year-old.

The midfielder has already been linked with a move to America’s MLS, but Santos boss Dorival Junior admits he wants to sign the former Bayern Munich man.
“It would bring us a lot of more attention in the world,” he told UOL Esporte.
“My idea, that I tried to bring to the board, is that Santos would once again have a player with a world profile and that we are looking for names at European clubs.

“Schweinsteiger is within this profile. A player with Schweinsteiger's history, he's not happy in Manchester, and if suddenly a club in Brazil is interested in an athlete of this profile we could move in the market.”
The big obstacle for any potential deal would be the 18 months remaining on Schweinsteiger’s Man United contract, which is around the £200,000 a week mark.
