The first 20 minutes was played at a relatively slow tempo with neither side truly threatening the opposition’s goal. A few wild shots at goal was the only concern for the goalkeepers.

However, in the 27th minute the game saw its first goal, and in sensational style. A Singapore corner kick was headed on to Khairul Amri who pounced on it at the far post, producing an acrobatic overhead kick to volley into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Indonesia tried to respond quickly, winning a free kick in a dangerous position. Lilypaly took the set-piece and thumped a shot on target. The ball bounced awkwardly in front of goalkeeper Hassan Sunny, but he parried it to safety.

The scoreline remained the same up until the hour mark as both sides lacked the penetration to get into the final third.

Indonesia continued probing for an opening, and in the 62nd minute they were rewarded for their industry. A cross came in from the left, provided by Rizky Ripora, and Andik Vermansyah showed terrific technique to volley the ball home, equalising with audacity.

Towards the end of the game, there were chances at both ends, the first saw Sunny save from Zulham Zamrun, before a headed effort at the other end went just over the bar.

The game looked set to end in a draw, but in the 85th minute the ball was cut back from the byline by Solossa, and Lilypaly hammered it home on the half-volley to send Indonesia through to the knockout stage in dramatic fashion.
