PSG president: We deserved Arsenal win

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi said his side should have won their Champions League clash against Arsenal.

Al-Khelaifi pointed to statistics and what he called "unfair" penalties awarded or not awarded to either side as reasons PSG only came away from Emirates Stadium on Tuesday with a single point.

Asked by talkSPORT whether the final result reflected how the play went, he said: “Not really, as I think we deserved to win the match, but we didn’t."

“I think we were the much better team tonight; I mean we dominated most of the game," al-Khelaifi said. “We had 13 shots, they had only three. So the numbers showed we were better."

“The penalty I think was not a penalty, and we had a penalty [call], but didn’t get it and I think it was really not fair."

The two met in a clash of the top two Group A sides with a win paving the way to a possibly friendlier path through the knockout stages.

“But our target is to finish first [in Group A], and we are first today, but we have another match to go to try and finish first in the group.”

The two sides are level on points after five games with 11 apiece from three wins and two draws. PSG are top due to their head-to-head record.

PSG require a victory over Ludogorets to lock down top spot, while Arsenal play Basel away in their final group game.
