FC Bayern München are set to rest some key players in their UEFA Champions League Group D tie against Rostov at the Stadion Olimp 2 on Wednesday.
Selmashi have already confirmed their exit from the tournament. However, they are still in with a shot to achieve a third-placed finish in the group – to make it to the round of 32 of the Europa League.
The Russian club are sitting third in the pool with one point from their four matches so far, same as PSV at the bottom. They started the tournament with a 5-0 humbling defeat against Bayern at the Allianz Arena.
Their only point came in a 2-2 home draw against PSV on matchday 2, while they lost both fixtures against Atletico Madrid by a one-goal margin.
Bayern, on the other hand, are second in the group with nine points from their four matches. They must win this one in order to set up a thrilling clash in the last round of group matches against Atletico.
Already safely through to the last 16 for the ninth season in a row, the Bavarians still have their sights firmly set on achieving top billing in the group with wins in their last two fixtures.
But they will have to cope without the services of Manuel Neuer in Russia. The keeper will put his feet up in Munich and rest his sore calf, while Arjen Robben and Arturo Vidal may also sit out as precautions.
