Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that goalkeeper Roman Burki will be out for the remainder of the year after sustaining a broken hand in the victory against FC Bayern München.
The Switzerland international was in goal for Dortmund’s 1-0 win over the Bavarians and, despite lasting the entire 90 minutes at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, the club later announced that the shot-stopper is expected to be out for up to two months.
“The operation will take place in the Knappschaft hospital in Brackel and will mean he will be out for up to eight weeks,” the club’s official website said.
“This means Roman Burki will not be available for Dortmund for all the games up to the end of the year.
“Roman Weidenfeller will be in goal for the Champions League match on Tuesday against Legia Warsaw. Bürki played right through against Bayern even though he was injured.”
Burki has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
