The 217th Milan derby finished all-square after Internazionale scored a last-gasp equaliser to draw 2-2 with AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
- AC Milan 2 Internazionale 2
- Suso opens scoring just before half-time
- Candreva equalises shortly after restart
- Rossoneri go back in front through Suso
- Perisic rescues late point for Inter
A brace from Suso appeared to give the Rossoneri the bragging rights in the city after he twice handed them an unlikely lead, with Antonio Candreva having briefly restored parity for Stefano Pioli's side.
But Ivan Perisic struck with virtually the last kick of the match to secure a dramatic share of the spoils for the Nerazzurri to prevent back-to-back defeats against their fierce city rivals in 2016.
The derby encounter got off to a slow start with the first chance only arriving after 11 minutes as Geoffrey Kondogbia failed to direct his header on target from Marcelo Brozovic's corner.
Inter were asking all the questions in the first half with Perisic testing Gianluigi Donnarumma from inside the box on 14 minutes, before the Croatian winger steered a header wide of the left post from Danilo D'Ambrosio's 24th-minute cross.
Kondogbia also missed the mark with a header from another Brozovic corner two minutes later, while Candreva fired wide on two occasions and Perisic headed wide again.
Icardi was next to waste a chance for Inter before Milan finally fashioned a couple of goalscoring opportunities in the closing stages of the first half, with Mattia De Sciglio and Carlos Bacca forcing Samir Handanovic to save their respective efforts from range.
Donnarumma was then called into action on 42 minutes to deny Candreva and the Rossoneri broke the deadlock against the run of play seconds later through Suso, who found the bottom left corner of the net from inside the area on the right.
Candreva threatened to level matters six minutes after the restart, but he was unable to beat Donnarumma from distance, but the winger did manage to equalise with his next chance two minutes later with a shot from outside the box that flew into the top right corner.
However, Suso restored Milan's lead on 58 minutes as he fired past Handanovic from inside the area after being picked out by Carlos Bacca.
The Nerazzurri continued to take the game to their neighbours without much success, although Mauro Icardi did force a save out of Donnarumma from inside the area after being played through on goal by D'Ambrosio on 69 minutes.
Just as it looked like Milan had done enough to secure victory, Perisic dashed their hopes with an equaliser in the second minute of injury-time as he got on the end of Jeison Murillo's corner to slot home from close range.
