Former captain Steven Gerrard has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, according to a report in the British media.
Gerrard has recently called time on his playing career in Major League Soccer, where he has spent the last two seasons playing for LA Galaxy, and several clubs have offered the former England skipper playing and coaching positions.
He has been linked with a return to Merseyside as a youth coach, or to MK Dons as their new manager, but according to the Independent, Inter have offered the 36-year-old an opportunity to prolong his playing career.
The San Siro club reportedly made contact with Gerrard subsequent to the sacking of Frank de Boer at the start of the month and their interest remains hasn't waned with the appointment of Stefano Pioli.
Celtic have also been linked with a move for Gerrard but Brendan Rodgers has played down their chances.
“There is nothing in it,” he said.
“We worked well together in our time at Liverpool and I have brought players here that I worked with before, so people see it as a natural progression.
