Lahm unconcerned by Muller drought

Bayern Munchen captain Phillip Lahm believes it is simply a matter of time before out-of-form striker Thomas Muller finds his goalscoring touch once again.

Muller has a superb record in front of goal in his career, having bagged 36 goals in 82 games for Germany, as well as scoring 20 in 31 Bundesliga matches last season.

However, he is yet to score for Bayern in the German topflight or the Champions League this season, meaning Lahm actually has more goals than him this term, which is a fact he doesn’t let his teammate live down.

“I have scored a goal more than him after 10 matchdays,” Lahm joked with Sky Sports. “I have obviously teased him with it a few times.

“But with the quality Thomas has, it is just a matter of time before he starts scoring goals again.”

Lahm is widely expected to hang up his boots and retire as a professional player when his current contract expires in June 2018, but reports earlier this week suggested he could call it quits as early as the end of the current season.

“You always have to ask yourself the question whether you can still pull it off at the highest level,” he added.

“And we are not talking about years or months there, but about weeks. But I am still enjoying myself for now.”
