Serie A club Lazio have refuted claims in Italy that midfielder Ravel Morrison is absent without leave after failing to return from a trip to his native England.
Italian newspaper Il Tempo published a report suggesting the Biancazzurri were considering sueing Morrison after he extended a recent trip to England without the club's consent, while also claiming he refused to train with the reserve team prior to the trip.
The article suggests the 23-year-old is in England in order to engineer a move in the January transfer window, but Napoli have refuted pretty much all of the claims, stating they had given him permission to extend his leave of absence in order to deal with personal matters.
"Lazio announce that contrary to what was reported by the media, Ravel Morrison is in England for personal matters duly authorised by the company," read the statement.
Whichever side of the story is true, Morrison has had a torrid time in Italy since making the move to Lazio in 2015 and has made just four league appearances in nearly a year and a half at the club.
Next up for Lazio is a Serie A match against Genoa following the international break as they look to close the gap on the clubs ahead of them in the league standings and neither the club nor the player has stated whether or not he will be back from his trip in time to be considered to play any part in the match.
