Schalke fans will breathe a sigh of relief following news that midfielder Max Meyer’s ligament injury is not as serious than first feared.
The 21-year-old midfielder suffered damage to his right ankle in the Ruhr derby against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and upon being replaced, the Royal Blues supporters feared the worst.
On the hour mark, a firm challenge from BVB defender Sokratis looked to have ended Meyer’s season, but the club claim the substitution was just a precautionary measure.

While the Germany Under-23 captain will certainly miss the midweek Europa League clash against Krasnodar, there’s a possibility that he may return before this weekend’s Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen.
Meyer has scored once and registered two assists in 13 games for Markus Weinzierl’s side this term.
