Villarreal suffered their first defeat of the La Liga season as they were beaten 2-1 by Eibar at Ipurua Municipal Stadium on Sunday.
The Yellow Submarine were mounting an early challenge for UEFA Champions League football after going unbeaten in their opening nine league matches.
The started well enough in the Basque Country after Bruno fired them in front from the spot in the 41st minute, but late goals from Ivan Ramis (80') and Pedro Leon (87') sealed the comeback win for Los Armeros, who recorded their first success in four outings.

Elsewhere, Diego Reyes' 62nd-minute goal handed Espanyol a narrow 1-0 victory over Real Betis at Benito Villamarin.
Reyes' second-half header halted a four-match winless run for the Catalans, who moved up to 12th place – level on 11 points with Gus Poyet's side in 13th position.
Meanwhile, Osasuna were denied only their second win of the league campaign as they let slip the lead to draw 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.
Oriol Riera gave the relegation-threatened Rojillos a 23rd-minute lead, but they were pegged back just five minutes later by Raul Garcia's equaliser for Los Leones, leaving the Pamplona outfit two points adrift of safety in 19th spot, while Bilbao sit seventh in the table.

In the late kick-off, 10-man Celta Vigo squandered a three-goal lead as they drew 3-3 with Las Palmas at Gran Canaria.
The contest appeared to be over midway through the first half thanks to three early goals from the visitors. Iago Aspas (14', 21') was amongst the goals again as he netted another brace – having also bagged a double last weekend – to add to Daniel Wass' sixth-minute opener for Celta.
But Los Amarillos hit back after the interval, pulling one back through Pedro Bigas on 52 minutes, before Sergi Gomez conceded a penalty and received his marching orders on 65 minutes for a second yellow card.
Jonathan Viera made no mistake from 12 yards out to give the hosts hope and Kevin-Prince Boateng struck three minutes later to earn the Canary Islanders an unlikely share of the spoils.
Sunday's La Liga results:
Eibar 2-1 Villarreal
Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Osasuna
Real Betis 0-1 Espanyol
Las Palmas 3-3 Celta Vigo
