Harry Kane could be fit for the north London derby against Arsenal next weekend, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed.
The England striker has been sidelined since injuring his ankle in last month’s win over Sunderland, but he is close to returning – possibly in the trip to Arsenal on Sunday, November 6 or even in Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Bayer Leverkusen.
It is one of two fitness boosts to Spurs, with centre-half Toby Alderweireld on the verge of returning from the knee problem sustained against West Brom a fortnight ago.
“Harry is not ready yet,” said Pochettino.
“It’s difficult to know but we’ll see. His evolution is great. Maybe for Sunday, perhaps the Champions League.
“Frustrated is a word we don’t use here. Both (Kane and Alderweireld) are positive.
“Of course they want to be back playing quickly – not least because we push them hard in training. Injured players have it much tougher than the fit ones.”
