Hull City have announced the appointment of former Blackpool, Carlisle and Ostersunds boss Neil McDonald as assistant to head coach Mike Phelan.
The 50-year-old, who has also managed Preston North End and Lincoln City, has also been second in command at Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham to Sam Allardyce and to Iain Dowie at Crystal Palace.
He left Blackpool in May following their relegation to League Two and will join Phelan for Tuesday night’s EFL Cup clash with Bristol City.
Of the appointment, Phelan told the club’s official website: “I’m pleased to welcome Neil to the Club and look forward to working with him.
“It was important that we added to the backroom staff here and Neil brings a wealth of football experience which will be of huge importance as the season progresses.”
