Eredivisie Sunday round-up

Feyenoord maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie standings after scoring a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Ajax at De Kuip stadium.

The home side actually had the majority of possession and chances on goal, but their finishing let them down as they were only able to get two of 15 shots on target.

After the first half ended goalless, Ajax grabbed the lead against the run of play through Kasper Dolberg in the 55th minute.

They almost managed to hang on to their lead until the end of the game, but former Liverpool winger Dirk Kuyt struck with five minutes left on the clock to earn Feyenoord a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere goals for Brian Linssen (18') and Tom van Weert (45+2') gave Groningen a comfortable 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar at Euroborg stadium.

A very even match between Nijmegen and Vitesse ended 1-1 after Dario Dumic's 88th minute strike cancelled out Navarone Foor's 38th minute opener.

In the day's late game, Heerenveen survived a late first half comeback from Heracles to cruise to an impressive 3-1 win at Abe Lenstra Stadion.

The home side grabbed the lead in the 20th minute through Stefano Marzo before Brandley Kuwas levelled matters five minutes before the break.

However, Heerenveen looked a different team in the second half and goals from Sam Larsson (67') and Jeremiah St Juste (78') earned them the win.

Sunday's results:

  • Nijmegen 1-1 Vitesse
  • Feyenoord 1-1 Ajax
  • Groningen 2-0 AZ Alkmaar
  • Heerenveen 3-1 Heracles
