Dzeko grabs brace as Roma down Napoli

Edin Dzeko scored twice at the Stadio San Paolo as Roma secured a comfortable 3-1 win against Napoli to move into second place in the Serie A standings.

The home side started the game in second place but went into the break chasing the game as Dzeko neatly finished off a lovely move started by Mohamed Salah.

Scoring late in the first-half gave Luciano Spalletti's side added attacking impetus going into the second period, and the Bosnian soon doubled their advantage, this time with his head after Alessandro Florenzi floated a lovely set-piece into the area for the former Manchester City striker to complete his brace.

Maurizio Sarri's side, who've only been on the losing side once this season, pulled one back four minutes later, just before the hour mark through a towering header from defender Kalidou Koulibaly – who rose highest to meet a Faouzi Ghoulam's corner.

However, Roma made sure of the victory with five minutes left when Salah grabbed a deserved a goal when his perfectly-timed run was met by Danielle De Rossi's pass – to slot the ball past Pepe Reina.

In the second game of the day 10-man Pescara held on for a credible draw against Sampdoria – as both sides remained adrift from the bottom three spots.

Hugo Campagnaro scored at both ends in the first half – first into his own net after 12 minutes and moments later he made amends of his error by meeting Alberto Aquilani's sumptuous delivery from a corner-kick.

Defender Andrea Coda received his marching orders on the stroke of half-time after receiving a his second yellow after a viscous foul but the Delfini held on to secure a valuable point at the Stadio Adriatico-Giovanni Cornacchia.
