While Roberto Carlos says he is happy to continue as an ambassador for Real Madrid the former left-back revealed he is not wanted on the coaching staff.
Carlos, who represented Los Blancos 370 times during an 11-year stay, says he approached the Spanish giants about a more hands-on role, but was knocked back.
The 43-year-old was speaking at a Real Madrid Foundation press conference in Beijing on Thursday when he revealed: "I spoke with the club [about a management role] but they don't want me.
"They said that for now they want me to continue as an ambassador. When I have the opportunity to return to the training field I will but at the moment I'm happy as an ambassador."
Reflecting on the club's form this season, he added: "Things haven't gone to plan in the last four games, but there's time to recover.
"The atmosphere is excellent, we have a fantastic team and hopefully we can win the league again."
