AZ Alkmaar technical director Max Huiberts has dismissed suggestions that Tottenham paid over the odds to acquire the services of striker Vincent Janssen.
The 22-year-old Netherlands international has failed to live up to his £17m price tag since making the move to London from the Eredivisie, providing just one goal and two assists in 12 appearances in all competitions.
However, Huiberts has no doubts that the striker will soon start to show his true worth.
"It was said that it was ridiculous that we asked for more than £10m for Vincent because he plays for AZ. But then I think, why?" Huiberts told AZ Spreekt.
"He is the top scorer in the Netherlands and the No 1 striker for the Oranje. Vincent had already reached the top in the Eredivisie.
"I am sure that he will adapt quickly to the level of the Premier League."
