Iraq miss four-on-one chance against Thailand

Iraq thrashed Thailand 4-0 in their World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday to earn a first win on the road to Russia, but it could have been worse for the Thais.

Luckily for the War Elephants, Iraq also contrived to miss an absolute sitter. Somehow managing not to score from a four-on-one chance after a devastating fast break.

Leading 2-0 at the time, the Iraqis break quickly following a Thai corner and after a couple of missed challenges find themselves four on one, with just the Thai goalkeeper to beat.

But instead of drawing the keeper before passing it to one of his three teammates to stroke into an empty net, the Iraqi player knocks a horrible bobble pass to his right and can only watch in horror as his fellow attacker stumbles and knocks the ball wide.

The Thai keeper was understandably angry at his defence for conceding such a chance, but probably not nearly as angry as the Iraq coach.
