Ramsey hopes to emulate Gerrard

Ramsey struggled with injury problems throughout last season but still managed to score a tidy 10 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions as the Londoners secured a second consecutive FA Cup title, and a third -place finish in the Premier League.

The Welshman now hopes to kick on next season and believes former Liverpool and England captain Gerrard is the perfect player to model his game on.

"I think a top-class midfielder needs to be able to tackle, get up and down the pitch, pass, create opportunities and score goals," the former Cardiff man told Bleacher Report.

"That’s why I try to do everything, that’s what I judge my game on. If you look at someone like Steven Gerrard, he combines all of those elements.

"That’s what I want to [emulate], so that’s what I base my game on."
