RB Leipzig forward Yussuf Poulsen admits he didn’t expect his side’s good start to the current Bundesliga season, following their 2-1 victory against Augsburg.
The newly-promoted side are currently in third-position in the standings and remain unbeaten having collected 12 points from six games.
“We’re a bit surprised – we didn’t really expect to make such a good start,” he told the Bundesliga’s official website.
“Now we have to keep it up and play as we did in the opening games.”

The 22-year-old also highlighted the influence of coach Ralph Hasenhuttl – formerly the mentor Ingolstadt 04.
“We have a coach who already has Bundesliga experience and knows what the Bundesliga is all about. He did a fantastic job at FC Ingolstadt 04 last season,” he added.
“If the coach has the same philosophy that has been instilled in the players in recent years and that we trust, then it’s a massive help and makes it easier for the team to deliver good performances.”
The Denmark international also commented on the progress of former teammate Joshua Kimmich, who has been enjoying an unexpected goalscoring streak at Bayern Munich.
“We’re still in touch and I’m going to go and visit him in Munich this weekend. Joshua has taken incredible steps in his development since I first met him,” he said.
“He was still a youth player when he came to Leipzig. Since then, he’s learned an incredible amount and taken his performances to a new level that many will never reach. His performances are really impressive, be it for FC Bayern München or Germany.”
