Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly has signed a new contract at Napoli, owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed.
The 25-year-old centre-back was seen by Blues boss Antonio Conte as the "final piece" in his defensive puzzle, but with the Serie A club's refusal to allow him to leave for less than £60 million, Chelsea were forced to turn to David Luis on transfer deadline day.
De Laurentiis revealed on his Twitter account: "I am pleased to announce that Kalidou Koulibaly has renewed his contract with Napoli until the end of 2021."
Napoli paid Belgian side Genk 6.5m euros for Koulibaly in 2014. He previously played for Metz and after turning out for the French under 20 side in 2012, he has since been capped a number of times by Senegal.
