Villarreal maintained their unbeaten start to the new league season as they ran out 2-1 victors against Real Sociedad El Madrigal on Sunday.
A quick-fire brace from Nicola Sansone midway through the first half put the hosts in the driving seat, although Yuri halved the deficit 10 minutes before half-time to keep La Real in the contest.
The Yellow Submarine moved up to sixth place with two wins and two draws from their opening four league encounters, while Sociedad are down in 13th spot after losing their last two matches.
Elsewhere, Athletic Bilbao made it back-to-back wins in the top flight as they beat Valencia 2-1 at San Mames.
Los Leones had to come from an early goal down, however, when Alvaro Medran gave the visitors a second-minute lead, only for Aduriz (24', 41') to strike twice before half-time to secure the comeback win for Ernesto Valverde's side.
The Basque outfit moved up to ninth, six points clear of rock-bottom Los Che, who have lost all four of their games this term.
Meanwhile, struggling Celta Vigo picked up their first point of the season in a goalless draw with Osasuna at El Sadar.
The stalemate kept 19th-placed Celta off the foot of the standings, while Los Rojillos are just a point clear in 16th position, having not won in the new campaign either.
Sunday's La Liga results:
Osasuna 0-0 Celta Vigo
Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Valencia
Villarreal 2-1 Real Sociedad
