Sunday’s Eredivisie round-up

Feyenoord maintained their perfect start to the new Eredivisie season as they signalled their intent to challenge for the title with a 1-0 win at PSV.

It was a late goal that won it for the visitors as Eric Botteghin scored eight minutes from time to make it six wins from six for Giovanni's van Bronckhorst's side.

They moved five points clear of the defending champions, who are in second place after dropping points against Groningen last month in a goalless draw.

Elsewhere, Ajax kept pace with the chasing pack as they moved up to third, level with PSV, with a 2-0 victory over Heracles at the Polman Stadion.

Second-half goals from Davy Klaassen (66') and Nemanja Gudelj (76') handed the Dutch giants their third success on the trot, leaving the 12th-placed Heraclieden without a win in their last five league outings.

Meanwhile, AZ continued their impressive start to the campaign with a 2-0 win over PEC Zwolle at MAC³PARK Stadion.

Wout Weghorst's 45th-minute opener ensured that the visitors went into the break on the front foot and a late goal from Guus Til (87') secured the three points for the Cheeseheads, who are level on 13 points with Ajax and PSV in fourth spot.

Sparta Rotterdam bounced back from a two-game winless run as they beat NEC 2-0 at Het Kasteel, with Thomas Verhaar (17') and Zakaria El Azzouzi (81') either side of the break to seal victory.

De Kasteelheren occupy the final European place in seventh, while Peter Hyballa's team are down in 14th position after managing just one win in their opening six league matches.
