Paris Saint-Germain head coach Unai Emery says he has full confidence in his first-choice forward Edison Cavani after an indifferent start to the season.
Cavani was criticized for his lack of composure during their 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League in mid-week but silenced his doubters with four goals in the opening half on Friday evening.
After being substituted at half-time for Jese, PSG ran out 6-0 winners against Caen, and Emery feels that his performance against the domestic rivals was no different than against the Gunners.
"We have confidence in Edinson Cavani. When he has five chance and score one of them as he did on Tuesday, I tell him to stay calm," he told the Ligue 1 official website. "For me it is very important that he creates chances for himself.
"On Tuesday it didn't go in for him, whereas on Friday it did. He actually played the same game. He went off with muscular fatigue in the second half because of the effort he put in the first period and the intensity he played with.
"For the confidence of the team and the players it was important to win and to score goals."
