PSV Eindhoven manager Phillip Cocu has highlighted his side's quest to make their mark in the Champions League, but admits the odds are stacked against them.
The Rood-witten face a tough task in Group D, with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid the two sides tipped to finish in the top two positions.
As such, PSV and Russian outfit Rostov are expected to battle it out for third place in Group D, which will secure a place in the Europa League knockout phase.
"You have to be realistic," Cocu told reporters. "We have ambition to get things done in the Champions League.
"But we have very strong opponents. We have confidence and belief to achieve something, otherwise you do not need to start."
PSV kick off their Champions League campaign with a home clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, and Cocu feels his side can record a positive result if they "have a great day".
"It is a tough opponent of a high level so it makes sense that 15 opportunities will not arise," Cocu added.
"We must be together and organised. If we have a great day we can get a result."
