FC Bayern München have named Mario Gotze’s younger brother, Felix, in their UEFA Champions League squad for the 2016/17 campaign.
The teenager signed for Bayern in 2014 on a free transfer from BVB Dortmund and at the time joined his older brother Mario at the club.
The midfielder has been catching the eye for Bayern’s U19 side and has now been named in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for Europe’s premier club competition.
Mario Gotze has since returned to Dortmund after failing to make enough of an impact for the 26-time German champions. However, it seems his younger sibling is a star on the rise for FC Hollywood.
The younger Gotze will join the likes of Nicolas Feldhahn, Timothy Tillmann and Erdal Özturk as some of the other up-and-coming prospects named in the squad for the Champions League.
There are few surprises when it comes to some of the bigger stars who have been selected – one of Europe’s most feared attacks is likely to be on full display in the tournament. Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa, and Kingsley Coman will all be available for the Bavarians.
Bayern are in Group D along with Atletico Madrid, PSV and Rostov. The side’s first game is against Russian Premier League runners-up Rostov, on 13 September.
