Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have continued to train alone as they step up their respective recovery efforts.
Ronaldo picked up a knee injury against France in the EURO 2016 final and has yet to return to full fitness and Benzema has been struggling with a back injury.
Real have so far managed to cope without the pair with wins against Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo in La Liga. Nonetheless, the club’s fans will no doubt welcome the prolific forwards back into head coach Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI.
Ronaldo is the club’s all-time leading forward with 364 goals in 348 appearances. Benzema has hit 161 goals in 318 appearances for Los Blancos, and is regarded as a vital member of the forward line.
Los Blancos club have confirmed that the pair continue to train on their own alongside left-back Fabio Coentrão.
A statement on the club’s official website said, “The squad completed their fourth session of the week without the 14 madridistas who have been called up for international duty.
“Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and Coentrão, who are continuing their respective recovery processes, trained alone out on the pitch.”
