Andre Ramalho is looking forward to more minutes on the pitch this season after signing on loan for Mainz 05 on transfer deadline day.
The 24-year-old former FC Liefering centre back struggled for game time at Leverkusen after signing from Red Bull Salzburg in 2015.
He made his debut for Mainz in the 3-1 friendly loss to Sandhausen on Thursday after just a few training sessions and was understandably not overly impressed by his contribution.
"It wasn’t the best game yesterday as we imagined it would go differently," he told the club's website. "I am sure that we will be ready for Hoffenheim next week."
Ramalho added that he doesn't mind where he plays as long as he is on the field, as he is comfortable in defence or midfield.
"I want to do my best to help the team. We will see what happens come the end of the season."
Meanwhile, 28-year-old midfielder Pablo De Blasis has signed a new one year contract with the club, with an option to extend the deal for a further year.
The former Aripolis Tripolis midfielder who has made 49 appearances for Mainz 05, scoring five goal revealed he was delighted to have extended his stay.
"I am very happy to have extended my contract with Mainz 05. Right now it is important that we all stick together as a team given that we have the additional challenge of the Europa League as well.
"For the club, the fans and of course all the players it is a good place to be in ahead of the tough tasks that await us this season."
