Burnley break club record transfer

Burnley have broken their club record transfer fee with the signing of Ireland international midfielder Jeff Hendrick for £10.5 million from Derby County.

Hendrick joins for "a club-record undisclosed fee," according to the statment released by the Premier League new boys.

At the age of 24, the midfielder has over 200 appearances in the second-tier of English football for the Rams and comes highly-rated after having impressed for his country during the European Championship.

"The Premier League was a big draw for me and it's where I aspire to be after the summer I've had," Hendrick told the club's website.

Head coach Sean Dyche could not hide his delight at securing one of his key transfer targets of the summer.

"After a protracted deal, we have got a main target of ours and we welcome Jeff to the club and hope he does well."
