Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Andre Ramalho has confirmed that he has joined domestic rivals 1. FSV Mainz 05 until the end of the season.
Ramalho is the second defender to leave the club on Wednesday, after Kyriakos Papadopoulos joined newly-promoted Red Bull Leipzig on loan.
Mainz have the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season if he impresses during his temporary stay.
The former Red Bull Salzburg man says he's just happy to be awarded the opportunity to play first-team football – having been on the periphery of Roger Schmidt's squad since joining last year.
"I am delighted to be at Mainz. I am convinced Mainz is the club for me and I want to prove myself here this season," he told the club's website.
"We have a lot ahead of us, but I'm sure that we will succeed and I will do my part."
The 24-year-old Brazilian will provide the Carnival club much needed depth as they prepare for their Europa League campaign this season.
