Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has bemoaned the timing of the transfer window, and believes it should close before the start of the new season.
Many clubs were active in the transfer market during the off-season, completing the bulk of their business before the start of the Premier League campaign.
However, many more have left it late, bringing in several new players in the last fortnight.
While Dier enjoys the "entertainment" that the transfer window brings in the off-season, he feels it has an unsettling effect on players when the season starts.
"My opinion is the transfer window shouldn't be open now, it should be over once the Premier League season begins," Dier told reporters.
"I just think it's unfair on managers and players that there are still people in the dressing room that don't really know what their futures are.
"Once the season starts, I want to be at a club where everyone is pushing in the same direction and knows where they stand.
"I don't think it helps players or managers.
"Obviously it's good entertainment for everyone. I enjoy watching it, but it shouldn't be open when the season starts."
