James Rodriguez is eager for a move to the Premier League while Chelsea bid for David Luiz and Mario Balotelli nears the Anfield exit.
James Rodriguez keen on Chelsea switch
The Colombian landed his bum in butter when he signed for Real Madrid, but he had largely failed to live up to the hype.
With the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo consistently brilliant, James has been reduced to warming the bench and doing the odd awkward-sideline-warm-up.
He and his family are apparently keen to move to England – at least they invited the press over to tell them as much – and Chelsea seem to be the only club to have picked up on this.
Rumour Rating: 7/10. With reports that Chelsea would rather have Rodriguez on loan, while the player seems to want a permanent place, there is still much to be decided here.
Luiz set for Chelsea return?
Staying with the Blues for a moment, Sky Sports have reported that Antonio Conte has made a move for former Chelsea defender David Luiz.
The Brazilian left Stamford Bridge for Paris St-Germain two years ago in a £50m deal which was a world record fee for a defender and looked a brilliantly piece of business for Chelsea after Luiz’s horror show at the 2014 World Cup.
However, the 29-year-old could now be set for a return to west London in a move that will cost £30m plus add-ons.
Rumour Rating: 4/10 Conte clearly wants another defender, but is Luiz really the best bet? We’re not convinced.
Mario Balotelli to, umm, anywhere?
Liverpool thought they had netted a superstar when they signed the Italian in 2014, but were left scratching their heads after he scored just once in 16 appearances.
After joining Italian giants AC Milan on loan and still under-performing (one goal in 20 matches), it is probably best for the Anfield brains-trust to offload one of their most highly paid players before it’s too late.
Nice and Palermo have shown interest, and with reports of Balotelli attending a potential send-off party in Manchester on Monday doing the rounds, this one seems a certainty – though the destination is yet to be determined.
Rumour Rating: 9/10. This one seems done and dusted folks, Balotelli will be leaving Liverpool.
Moussa Sissoko steps into the fray
Making a return to the transfer circus, Sissoko is reportedly a target for Tottenham and Juventus.
However, reports suggest that Sissoko’s current club, Newcastle – despite being relegated – are holding out for a big payday, but the offers just aren’t forthcoming.
The Championship club reportedly want a mammoth £35 million for the French midfielder. However, with interested parties wanting to pay no more than £20 million, combined with Deadline Day fast approaching, it’s tough to see this one being buttoned up.
Rumour Rating: 5/10. No-one looks likely to get what they want out of this.
