Liverpool have been linked with a move for one of Brazil’s Olympic heroes, Luan, while Everton are eyeing a late swoop for Wilfried Bony.
Gremio star Luan to Liverpool (Radio Gaucha)
Despite being blessed with a number of playmakers, it would seem that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is after another in the shape of Gremio star Luan.
The 23-year-old, whose full name is Luan Guilherme de Jesus Vieira, was impressive as Brazil triumphed in their home Olympics in Rio and has previously been a target for Barcelona.
Gremio are keen to keep the player, who could cost the Reds as much as 35 million euros, and they could be in luck as striking deals with South American teams this close to the end of the transfer window in England will be incredibly difficult.
Rumour rating: 5/10. There may be some truth in this but getting it over the line at this late stage could prove almost impossible.
Spurs persist in chase for Zaha (Various)
Tottenham have reportedly had another bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha turned down as they look for a replacement for Nacer Chadli, who has joined West Brom.
Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add two new wide players to his squad before the close of Wednesday’s window, but Palace have so far rebuffed an initial offer of £12million and are now said to have rejected a second bid of around £18m.
Zaha fits right into the mould of what Pochettino wants at White Hart Lane and if the move did happen you could certainly see the talented forward eventually breaking into Sam Allardyce’s England squad, such is the impact of Pochettino on young players.
Rumour rating: 9/10. Spurs used to love a bit of last-day, last-ditch business but that has not really happened in recent windows. That being said, Zaha reportedly wants the move so expect a long drawn out 48 hours for the player, Palace and Tottenham before the master negotiator, Daniel Levy, eventually gets his man.
Toffees to bid for Bony (L’Equipe)
Everton are reportedly offering around £20million in an attempt to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony.
Ronald Koeman is desperate to boost his central striking options at Goodison Park, despite Romelu Lukaku recently committing himself to the club for another season.
Bony has struggled to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium since his big-money move from Swansea, and it is thought that new City chief Pep Guardiola is ready to cut his losses on the 27-year-old Ivory Coast frontman.
Rumour rating: 6/10. Yes Koeman needs another striker but Bony is a very similar type of frontman to Lukaku, so could the two of them play together? It just doesn’t feel right.
