Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel believes his team shouldn’t get carried away following their 3-0 victory against SV Eintracht Trier 05 in DFB-Pokal.
Tuchel’s side raced into an unassailable 3-0 lead at the half-time break following a brace from Shinji Kagawa and a debut goal by German international midfieleder Andre Schürrle.
“It was a clear victory both in terms of the result and the course of the match. We dominated but we sometimes had difficulties in the opening 45 minutes to increase the tempo and to create chances too. In the second period we had a lot of clear chances but we were slightly too sloppy in front of goal,” he told the club’s website.
“We shouldn’t get carried away after beating a team from the regional league but we don’t need to disregard the result either. We are content and we feel well-equipped for the tasks to come.”
Andre Schürrle made his debut for Dortmund and looked lively throughout the match and Tuchel was full of praise for his new hard-working winger.
“It’s true that he is really happy. He is beaming and smiling every single day, he works very hard. There are not many offensive players who are also defined by their defensive play and have a very small ego. That’s why we absolutely wanted to sign him,” he concluded.
