The transfer merry-go-round continues to swirl as we edge closer to the end of the summer window. Could a Juventus centre-back be on his way to Chelsea? And will Joe Hart be able to find a new club before the deadline? Here’s a peek at today’s biggest rumours.
Chiellini to Chelsea
Chelsea are preparing a last-minute offer for Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, according to reports. The Sun claims that the Italian international is at the top of Antonio Conte’s list of potential centre-back targets for the remainder of the transfer window.

The new Chelsea boss worked with Chiellini for three years while he was manager in Turin and would like the 32-year-old to provide competition for Gary Cahill and John Terry in the Blues’ back four. Conte is reportedly hoping that an offer of £25million will be enough to tempt his former club to part with their veteran defender.
The report also says that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly remains on Chelsea’s radar and that the club have again been in talks with the player.
Rumor rating: 5/10. Chelsea have left this deal a bit too late if they want to get it over the line. Chiellini remains a key part of Juve’s defence and they won’t be letting him go unless they have a suitable replacement lined up.
Hart to Dortmund/Everton
Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart to Germany, according to reports. The Daily Telegraph claims that Dortmund are ‘searching for a long-term replacement for Roman Weidenfeller’ and that Joe Hart fits the bill.
The England international is set to leave the Etihad after the Citizens agreed a deal to sign Claudio Bravo from Barcelona and now a move to Germany could be a possible option.
Last season’s runners-up in the Bundesliga have reportedly enquired about City’s asking price for the goalkeeper. The fee could be in excess of £20million, which would be a record for a keeper in the German top division. It’s more likely that Dortmund would look to take Hart on a season-long loan deal as such an outlay would be too much at this point.
Meanwhile, signing a goalkeeper is Everton manager Ronald Koeman’s priority during the remainder of the transfer market. The Daily Telegraph report also mentions that Hart is considering interest from the Toffees, who are understood to be willing to loan or buy.
Rumor rating: 9/10. A move to another Premier League club is the most likely option, but we could see a loan deal to Dortmund being attractive to Hart.
Rodriguez to leave Southampton
Southampton’s forgotten man, Jay Rodriguez, could be on his way out of the club, according to the Daily Mirror. The newspaper claims that West Brom have joined Hull in the chase for the former Burnley forward.

West Brom and Hull are hoping to boost the numbers in their squads before the end of the transfer period, with the Tigers only being able to choose from 13 senior players. Both clubs are understood to be interested in taking the England international on loan for the season. The 27-year-old has struggled to get back to fitness after suffering a horrible knee injury in 2014. He scored 15 goals in 33 appearances in the 2013-14 Premier League campaign and was on the edge of the England World Cup squad before his injury.
Rumor rating: 9/10. Although Rodriguez came on against Manchester United on Friday, he is likely to struggle for a regular place in the side this season. This has a good chance of happening if Claude Puel can sign another striker before the deadline.
