Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Philippe Coutinho will be in contention for a start against Southampton in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
The Brazilian was rested as a precaution at the weekend as Liverpool ground out a 1-0 victory over Swansea, courtesy of James Milner's second-half penalty securing all three points for the Merseysiders.
"Philippe had a very intensive session on Saturday but we decided two or three days ago that we didn't want to risk [him] for this game," Klopp told reporters.
"Now I think he's fit. I think he's ready for Southampton."
When asked if he felt Sunday's victory over the Swans had added to his side's growing momentum, Klopp added: "Maybe I should feel it but I don't.
"We play again on Wednesday, that is my problem. I would like to feel better and say 'Three days off celebrating a good week' but we don't have time for this."
Coutinho has been in sublime form for the Reds this term, bagging five goals and three assists in 12 Premier League appearances.
