BVB Dortmund defender Mats Hummels believes criticism of his recent performances has been over the top.
The Germany international has come under fire in recent weeks following a series of unconvincing performances for the club.
However, Hummels believes his displays have been 'wrongly analysed' by German media.
"I definitely feel wrongly analysed and honestly see my performances better than some of the media," he told Kicker Magazine.
"It gains its own momentum: Bad things sell better than if you report positively. If there is the chance for it to snowball, this chance is gladly taken in my case."
Hummels initially imposed a ban on speaking to the media, but admits it may have made the situation worse.
"When I consciously said nothing it became less objective. It [the criticism] seemed unfortunately even more extreme," he added.
